iHeartRadio Ga Ga: Adam Lambert & Queen to Play Vegas Festival

Adam Lambert may have just parted ways with RCA Records , but his career shows nosigns of slowing down. Following last week's exciting news that he has joined the cast of "Glee," it's just been equally excitingly confirmed that he'll also be reuniting with Queen at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas on September 20, for the first official scheduled "Queenbert" performance in the States.
Adam Lambert first memorably sang with Queen on the "American Idol" Season 8 finale in 2009, and he impressed Brian May and Roger Taylor so much that he was later invited to sing with them at a Freddie Mercury tribute at the MTV Europe Video Music Awards in 2011. That led to a string of high-profile overseas Queenbert concerts last summer, but there was no news of any Queen/Adam shows in America, despite popular demand — until now.
The Queen, Adam, and "special guests" will join an absolutely jaw-dropping A-list lineup that includes Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Muse, fun., Ke$ha, J. Cole, Miguel, Phoenix, and many more...but there's little doubt that Queenbert's set will be one of the highlights of the weekend.
The iHeartRadio Festival will take place on September 20 and 21 at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Announce rare live performance at iHeartRadio Music Festival festival in Las Vegas.
Last year, Adam and Queen performed three critically acclaimed, sold out shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo, as well as further dates in Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

They will team up once again to perform at the iHeartRadio Music Festival taking place over September 20th and 21st in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena . Billed as the biggest live concert event in radio history, the event will also feature performances from Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and Maroon 5.

As well as being broadcast live across 150 channels throughout America, The CW will broadcast a two-night special on September 30th and October 1st.

Festival host Ryan Seacrest said: “Last year, the iHeartRadio Music Festival sold out in minutes, trended worldwide on Twitter, dominated the media and ruled the airwaves, and inspired fans from all around the world. This year, the iHeartRadio Music Festival becomes a trilogy -- remixing, redefining and rewriting music history. I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this must-see, one-of-a-kind total music experience.

Last week it was announced that Adam Lambert will join the cast of hit US TV series Glee for the upcoming fifth season.

Adam Lambert is leaving RCA , but he’s returning to some old friends in the meantime: Queen.
The ‘American Idol’ alum is joining the legendary rock band once more to wow the crowds at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival.
While fellow acts Katy Perry Justin Timberlake , Bruno Mars, Elton John andKesha are fab, Lambert and Queen’s performance is considered , rightfully so, one of the most special aspects of the festival — not just to fans, but to Lambert himself.
Lambert previously told ABC News (via Classic Hits and Oldies ), “For me, personally, I think I’m gonna look back on this in years to come and kind of think, ‘Wow, what a treat. What an honor to be able to be asked to sing with legends.’ Their music is iconic and Freddie Mercury, for me, is obviously one the the very great performers in history and a definite idol for me.
Of course, it takes a helluva range to fill Mercury’s shoes, but Glambert’s up for the challenge.
“There are a few [songs] that are daunting, let me tell ya!” Lambert laughed. “And then there’s some that I’ve sung many times before, so I’m excited for the challenge.
And we’re pretty excited to see it. Can we have an album of these instead of 80′s covers ?

iHeartRadio Music Festival 2013: Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry Lead Lineup

By Andrew Hampp , New York
Elton John, Bruno Mars, Ke$ha and Adam Lambert/Queen combo also heading to Vegas

Now entering its third year, iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas has quickly established itself as a home to a who's who of every major artist across virtually every format on radio. This year's lineup is no exception, with Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Elton John, Bruno Mars and a special pairing of Queen with Adam Lambert among the acts set to lead the bill.
The two-day festival will be held on September 20 and 21 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Arena, with a first-time Fan Village set to run during the daytime at a 15-acre parking lot adjacent to the arena. That space will be free to ticketholders (or an affordable separate ticket for non-mainstage attendees) and will feature performances from Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, AWOLNATION, Pete Tong, Twenty One Pilots and Jason Derulo.
The main festival lineup was announced Monday morning (July 15) in a press conference hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Clear Channel programming chief Tom Poleman. While a final schedule will be announced close to the festival, confirmed talent includes the aforementioned Timberlake, Perry, John, Mars, Queen and Lambert, as well as Muse, Tiesto, Chris Brown, Keith Urban, fun., Phoenix, Zedd, Maroon 5, Tim McGraw, Ke$ha, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Benny Benassi and other planned surprise guests.
The 2012 iHeartRadio played host to several impromptu duets and collaborations, including a kickoff performance of No Doubt joined by P!nk for "Just A Girl"; Usher joining Swedish House Mafia for the first live performance of their song "Euphoria"; a surprise appearance from Prince for a pair of duets during Mary J. Blige's set; deadmau5 and My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way; Lil Wayne and Keyshia Cole and many more (click here for a full 2012 iHeartRadio recap).
Perhaps the event's most memorable, if ultimately somber moment, was an abbreviated set from Green Day, during which frontman Billie Joe Armstrong famously railed against the festival for (erroneously) cutting the band's set short and proceeded to smash the band's instruments across the stage. The singer checked into rehab the next day, canceling all tour dates and promo appearances for Green Day's ambitious "Uno! Dos! Tre!" album project last fall.
This year's lineup features a performance by Timberlake after his Legends of the Summer stadium tour with Jay-Z concludes and right before Part 2 of "The 20/20 Experience" is released on Sept. 30. Meanwhile, Katy Perry's performance will mark the end of a quiet year for the pop singer, who has been working on the follow-up to 2010's hits-packed "Teenage Dream" album. And the special performance by Adam Lambert and Queen follows last week's news that Lambert has split with RCA Records due to a disagreement over the direction of his next album. Lambert, who released "Trespassing" in 2012, first performed with Queen in late 2011.
Here is the lineup for the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival:

Adam Lambert Still Fronting Queen, as of iHeartRadio Music Festival 2013

Justin Timberlake, Phoenix, Katy Perry, Miguel, Bruno Mars, fun., Muse, Elton John, and Ke$ha all appear on the September bill
Adam Lambert will continue to fill in for the late Freddie Mercury as Queen's frontman for this year's iHeartRadio Music Festival. The "Bohemiam Rhapsody"legends first teamed up with Lambert, who recently parted ways with label RCA Records (via the Hollywood Reporter ), in late 2011 and then played a number of shows in 2012. Now, the cross-generational supergroup leads a festival lineup that features Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, fun., Ke$ha, and Miguel. The two-day iHeartRadio festival runs from September 20 to 21 and takes place at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Other artists booked for the genre-spanning extravaganza include Queen (with Adam Lambert providing lead vocals), SPIN cover stars Phoenix, Muse, Elton John, Tiësto, J. Cole, Zedd, Chris Brown, 30 Seconds to Mars, Keith Urban, Maroon 5, Tim McGraw, and Benny Benassi. Organizers are also teasing surprise appearances from several as-yet-unannounced guests.

FROM Q3 AT ADAMTOPIA:

Three lines jump out to me ---

When they say love we forgo the royalties.

When they say love someone waits behind the trees.

When they say love its time to roll up on ur sleeves.

When it's really love you're prepared to loose all you got.

***

First he uses the word "they" -- not you. they say love. It is not about a personal relationship.

I think this is about someone loving his music and his willingness to give up his recording contract.

The safe path would have been to stay with RCA and just do the cover album and collect the royalties.

Adam chose the other path. The risky path. To be prepared to loose all he has by standing behind his vision. f

And the trees are barriers in his path -- things you can't see past but you need to walk around. But past the tree, someone is waiting for him. He is wanted if he leaves. (Trees/leaves I think it is a play on words.)

The next line "When they say love its time to roll up on ur sleeves." Could be "its time to roll up" = its time to arrive, to get somewhere, and start working hard. (Roll up your sleeves). Two phases entwined.

The final line is about taking a chance and risking everything.

***

I think is not so much a clue as an expression about his decision -- what he was thinking about.
